Range Rules
The purpose of this page is to help all Dennis Hansen Archery Range visitors understand what is expected of them while enjoying this beautiful public resource. Failure to follow these rules could result in loss of range privileges or closure of this range.
General Lane Rules
Shots must be taken within designated shooting boundaries, marked by white posts.
Do not shoot from behind these white posts.
No cross-angle shooting at adjacent targets.
Dogs must be kept on a leash and at their owner’s side at all times.
Do not shoot crossbows at any of our range targets.
10-40 Yard Sight-in Range
There exists one continuous shooting line from the kids target to the 10 yard butt. Everyone shoots at the same time. Everyone retrieves arrows at the same time.
No shots beyond 40 yards at this sight-in targets.
No broad heads or personal targets are allowed here. Use the sandpit to the east.
Sandpit & 50-70 Yard Targets
Broad heads are ONLY allowed at the sandpit. You are welcome to bring your own targets to shoot at the sandpit, but please clean up any debris or trash.
Crossbows are only allowed at the sandpit.
Do not take shots beyond 60 yards at the sandpit.
Do not take shots beyond 70 yards at the 50-70 yard sight-in targets.
When shooting the 50-70 yard targets, if a vehicle is on the road, please wait till they’ve passed to shoot.
Robo-buck, son of robo-doe lives next to the sandpit and likes to eat arrows. Shoot at your own risk! This is a steel target with a hollow vital section. Are you good enough to make a clean kill? This is one way to be sure.

Yes, but your dog must remain on a leash and at your side at all times. There is a designated area southeast of our range at the Lon Hagler SWA for training hunting dogs if you wish to run your dog off leash. However, you must abide by their training rules to do so.
