Big Game Feast Success

This year's Big Game Feast was a huge success! Thank you all for coming and donating to the upkeep of the Dennis Hansen Archery Range. We had over 170 people show up, buy raffle tickets, as well as bid on silent and live auction items. THANK YOU to all of our donors who gave amazing prizes such as hunts, knives, tools, taxidermy services, hunting & fishing equipment, and a wide range of gift cards! I can not say enough about your generosity! BTB members, please take note of these companies and business owners. I highly encourage you to patronize their businesses! They have invested in us as a club and thus the bowhunters of northern Colorado.

Dennis' Bench

Over the years, the Big Thompson Bowhunter's board has commemorated key individuals for their service or contribution to the club with sandstone benches, signs or plaques. To carry on this tradition, we felt it quite fitting to create a bench exclusively commemorating Dennis Hansen. This bench was designed to help range visitors know who Dennis was, and why he is our range's namesake.

The engraving reads:

Dennis Hansen, for whom this range is named; served as the Big Thompson bowhunters range Director for over 40 years and was actively involved in archery and bow hunting for almost 50 years until he died on March 12, 2023. He, along with two friends, Ray Padgett and Terry Ness founded the BTB in 1981. Dennis was associated with many bow hunting organizations and received numerous awards. Over the years, he considered his time spent with youth as his lasting achievement. In addition to sharing his joy of bow hunting with his children and grandchildren, Dennis taught archery to thousands of people. As testament to his humble and generous character, Dennis was always ready to help anyone. He would suggest where to hunt or catch fish no matter if you were a lifelong friend or recent acquaintance. Above all, Dennis embodied the United States motto “Semper Fi“ – always faithful.

“aim small, miss small” … Dennis Hansen
