Hours
Everyday, Sunrise — Sunset

The Dennis Hansen Archery Range is on Colorado Parks and Wildlife SWA land, which means that anyone visiting the range must possess a valid Fishing or Hunting License or a State Wildlife Area Pass. These new regulations went into effect July of 2020. Thank you for respecting our State Wildlife Area.

At Big Thompson Bowhunters we know that all bowhunters want to be accurate, ethical shooters who can consistently harvest each year. However, in order to do that, you need a safe place to practice shooting and a community of likeminded bowhunters to learn with.

The problem is it’s hard to find places to practice real life hunting scenarios and people who share your interest in the sport! This can leave you feeling like you’ll never get better! We believe everyone can learn to shoot accurately enough to make clean, ethical kills when hunting. However, this only comes through practicing good shooting technique in challenging scenarios. This is why, for over 40 years the members of the Big Thompson Bowhunters club has provided archers with a place where they can grow in their shooting abilities.

What are you waiting for? Become a Big Thompson Bowhunters member today, join us for a 3D archery shoot and take pride in being a part of a club dedicated to the future of this sport. You can join the club by signing up online or at our next 3D archery shoot! If you’re not ready to join yet, sign up for our newsletter to learn about upcoming shoots. Stop struggling alone as a backyard archery shooter, instead join our tribe of fellow bowhunters and become the accurate, ethical shooter you’ve dreamed of being.

The History of Big Thompson Bowhunter’s

In 1983 Big Thompson Bowhunters was granted permission by Colorado Parks and Wildlife to build an archery range on the north end of the Lon Hagler State Wildlife Area. Over the years, the range has expanded to 25 shooting stations with sight-in back stops ranging from 5-70 yards, a broad head sand back stop, raised shooting platforms, pit blinds and many challenging shooting scenarios! For nearly four decades the Big Thompson Bowhunters have stewarded this range, providing it as a public service to all archers. Various youth groups, such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Colorado Youth Outdoors, Partners and the City of Loveland Recreation Department have used this range on a regular basis for their activities.
